I will contact you to discuss your concept, and if we agree that our goals are compatible, we’ll create the artwork following the procedure specified below. Once you have submitted a deposit, I will put your project in my queue and we’ll discuss a timeline for completion.
Compatibility - I am eager to consider any amazing project that you can dream up. I look forward to continually pushing my own artistic expression as well. That said, please remember that you’re approaching me as an artist who works in my own style, and that sometimes a client’s goals may not fit well with my own goals (in which case I’m happy to recommend another artist who might be more appropriate). Additionally, artwork in stained glass does have some physical constraints, and larger pieces may need to be divided onto smaller subunits for structural integrity, shipping, and installation solutions.
Pricing - generally around $350 or more per square foot, but can vary significantly based upon complexity, glass choices, etc.
Design Process:
Site inspection - if local (northern NJ and surroundings), I’ll visit the site to discuss and take photos. If that is not possible, client will provide general site photos, and detailed installation photos and measurements.
Planning discussion - we will discuss the overall goals for the artwork, including subject matter, style, and size; the practical purpose (decorative, privacy, etc); the location, including light exposure and surrounding spaces; aesthetics such as color and glass preferences; timeframe; and budget/price range.
First draft, contract, and deposit - if the planning discussion determines that we are a good fit, then client will submit a $400 deposit (non-refundable, will be credited to final payment), and we may optionally sign a contract specifying terms (which I will supply before any payments are accepted). In return, I will develop three sketches and price estimate.
Initial Feedback - we will discuss the design and specific glass choices based upon the sketches and make decisions to guide the final design.
Semi-Final Design - I will create a scale drawing of the agreed upon design and submit to client for approval, along with final pricing.
Full Scale Drawing and 50% payment - I will submit a full scale drawing for final approval, and client will submit 50% payment (minus deposit credit). No changes to design will be permitted after this point.
Delivery and final payment - Artwork will be delivered to client, who will submit final payment.
Installation: Client will be responsible for installation, unless specified otherwise in planning discussions.
